I have my first work at home position. I am an expeditor for ChaCha. ChaCha is an SMS (texting) service. People from all over text questions to ChaCha and I have to determine the shortest path to the answer and send this information to a guide who will answer the question. It is simple to do. In fact, I am doing it right now. Sunday seems to be all about football. Who is playing who? What is the score? What was the score of yesterday’s game? Who is ranked where? Busy, busy, busy.

Yesterday I performed my first task with Amazon’s Mechanical Turk and received payment. Not the road to riches but not a horrible thing to make a little extra spending money. Two reviews taking me less than five minutes for about $2. Then there are the two $5 gift cards for Amazon.com. I won these by searching through a specific search engine.

I have several applications out and hope to pick up a few more opportunities. It is too early to give up hope and change is on the horizon. Until tomorrow…

Cha Cha Cha is a post from: AnneOnLife where life happens quite regularly.

A few days ago I came to the realization that without a defined place to go every day I lack the desire to get dressed. Deciding this was a problem I have now started getting dressed. But it is so cold in my drafty old house that my robe is still a constant companion. Oh well, it is a start.

Today I decided I was not getting fat; that was just a temporary situation brought on by more time to eat. Now I am trying to keep busy writing, searching for employment. I did find the possibly perfect work at home position. They want someone who wants to telecommute, has bookkeeping experience, and it pays very well. Yeah I know, if it sounds too good to be true… But I can be hopeful.

Yesterday I took a test for a work at home search engine. Nothing spectacular and the pay is nothing to write home about. Although it is something to do and it does look somewhat interesting. If nothing else it could be great research for something. That is a quandary for another day. Today I got dressed, did not overeat, played with my dog, applied for a possibly great opportunity, wrote a few blogs, and will make dinner for my family. That is not too shabby for one day!

Until tomorrow…

One step at a time is a post from: AnneOnLife where life happens quite regularly.

I’m not sure what is worse, looking for a conventional job or a virtual one. Maybe for you in urban America conventional employment comes somewhat easy. Seriously, just about anywhere you look there is SOMETHING to do. But for us in rural America, it is a bit tougher. Thus the foray into the virtual job market. What worse is I am a veteran bookkeeper not a formal writer. I know, everyone thinks they can write and not everyone truly can. I am really hoping I am the “thinks she can write and actually can” and not the latter. That would most definitely suck.

So here I am looking for virtual work under every virtual rock I find. I am not looking to get-rich-quick or even get-rich-at-a-medium-pace. It would be nice to find something legitimate that pays semi-decent and allows me to decompress from the 5+ years of overachieving work that was really me spinning my wheels.

Now, there is everything from typing, to bookkeeping, to blogging, to stuffing.. oh wait, that is a scam. There is always those sites where you dance in something skimpy for those willing to pay. You do not even have to show your face, just other parts. My husband says I do not have the nerve; I am wondering what the bottom is for me to find that nerve and is it really that bad? How can dancing around in what amounts to a bathing suit or underwear be all that big of a deal, especially if I disguise myself in some manner. sigh

Maybe I could keep practicing my yoga and learn to make a living off of that. I am semi-fit and have the time. I do know people who could help me fine tune my abilities. Or I could do book reviews. I LOVE to read. Although I usually have an odd take on things, but maybe that would be seen as refreshing. Anything is possible! But I digress.

I have come across sites listing many work at home (WAH) opportunities. Some of these are actually legitimate. Gomer Pyle voice: Surprise! Surprise! Mixed in with these are the tons of maybe, possibly, not even close to legitimate opportunities. It is as if one needs to put on their waders prior to stepping foot into one of these sites. Watch out Johnny, you almost stepped in it!

Maybe the conventional way is the safest, but I am definitely willing to put forth the effort in the virtual arena. I will be sure to keep you posted.

Finding online work… like finding a needle in a haystack is a post from: AnneOnLife where life happens quite regularly.
