This should be a simple description, or so I thought. Home is not a place, but a feeling, a memory, a thought. Home is where I feel love and laughter, sadness and loss. It is where I remember those little moments I hold dear. Spending time with my grandparents in the summertime at their house at the shore, going to the beach, playing cards, learning to crochet (I did not keep up with this). Memories of the old tire swing in the tree at the house on Maple Street, sledding down the hill in the winter and riding my skateboard in the summer. Going out on the boat, swimming in the lagoon, catching frogs and lizards (I was somewhat of a tomboy). Home was a safe place to be while growing up in a house falling apart.

Home is where my kids are. They are my heart, after all. Home is Ivy dog lying on the couch with her head on my lap. It is where the chickens roam free, then cluck when they see me come outside. Home is wherever I am, wherever I go. It is everywhere and nowhere. Home is not a place, but a feeling, a thought, a memory.

What does home mean to you? Twitter Moms and the makers of the film Away We Go want to know. Be one of the first 40 bloggers to post and win an awesome prize package. Not one of the first 40? Why not share what home means to you anyway. Then get ready to see the movie Away We Go in theaters this month.

A heartfelt comedy directed by Sam Mendes and written by Dave Eggers and Vendela Vida, Away We Go follows one couple’s quest to find a place they can call home. As they travel around the U.S. in order to find a perfect place to start their family, they encounter misadventures and fresh connections with an assortment of relatives and old friends who help them discover “home” on their own terms. In select theatres June 5th, opens nationwide June 26th!

Away We Go – What Home Means to Me is a post from: AnneOnLife where life happens quite regularly. All of us were for the Steelers except the boy (not pictured).
