I must confess, I have never made homemade Chex Mix.

I thought you just bought it already made. What can I say, we never had Chex when I was growing up.

And, since it is so conveniently available in pre-made bags of all sorts of good flavors I never attempted to make my very own. Until now…

I looked through the recipes on Chex.com and found several that I want to try. But for my very first attempt I went with Muddy Buddies. Honestly, I didn’t have any pretzels on hand and this one had the fewest ingredients.

What I love about this particular Chex Party Mix is the simplicity of it all. I used real butter and fresh peanut butter (freshly ground and nothing but peanuts!) in addition to real vanilla, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and Rice & Corn Chex cereals. Oh, and a little (okay, a lot) of powdered sugar at the end. Tastes almost like a Reece cup, but better!

My next attempt (because there will be another) will either be Chai Crunch or the Hot & Spicy Chex Party Mix (or maybe BOTH). I’m such a rebel! And it will make a nice gift this holiday season.
