Mind & Body – Core Fitness

The beginning of a new year brings new promises, or at least that is what we tell ourselves every December. The mistakes of the prior year(s) will be wiped away with the dropping of a brightly lit ball on New Year’s. As the clock moves from to midnight and billions of people kiss their love ones and/or make lots of noise in their varying states of inebriation, we think ‘next year will be different’.

I am not one for resolutions. I don’t keep them, ever. I do, however, strive to be better from one day to the next.

Today I am striving to finish a room in my basement that has been waiting for me for three years.

Core Fitness Resistance Bands

I’m also striving for better fitness: mentally and physically.

For the physical I’m trying out the Core Fitness resistance bands. These are pretty cool. First, they come in a nifty little bag. This is great for when I travel – which is something I intend to do a lot of in the very near future.

You get 5 bands in various weight resistances: 5 lb, 10 lb, 20 lb, 30 lb, & 40 lb. But it gets better, these bands can be joined together via the attached carabiner, each band has its own. This means you have many more levels or resistance to keep your workout fresh and to help push past those pesky plateaus.

These feel sturdy and high quality (I’ve only had mine a week, so I will have to update on their quality after more use) and are clearly labeled. No guessing on your resistance!

And you get an ebook (in pdf, so no special e-reader necessary) that explains how to use your resistance bands and has some recommended exercises.

What I don’t like about fitness bands is they only work in one direction. When you pull on them you are pulling on the weight and working your muscles, but when you release they immediately lose tension. This is where I have to concentrate and hold tension to the best of my ability.

If you’re interested in purchasing your own set of Core Fitness Resistance Bands, they can be found on Amazon for around $22.

I purchased the Core Fitness Resistance Bands at a discounted cost via Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
