@Anne Moss, I notice a lot of women in the military wear their hair short. I figure it was similar to the men having to shave their heads just not as extreme.

I have often thought about this myself. When I was in the army, I noticed women officers almost always have short hair once they reach the rank of major. Weird, but it was almost a gradual thing – haircut getting shorter as you go up in rank. I had a feminine short haircut when I was a captain and then I left.

I grew my hair after that, but had to go back to short after each childbirth. Practical reasons It’s long again now!

@Anne, I think it all depends on the style Anne, when it comes to short hair I mean. As to Morticia, I have other favorites now.

@Sire, Wow! I don’t think I have any pictures of me from that time. I was 17 or 18 at the time. But, I’m sure I could scare up some shots of Morticia for you.

Many men like long hair. My husband prefers it short and neat. Seeing as my hair is long and unruly just shows how much of a pain in the ass I can be. Then again, he did start dating me during my two-week orange hair fiasco.

As to what you should do with your hair? Whatever you want as long as your able to live with your decision. I personally like women with longer hair, but don’t let that sway your decision.

@Dave Doolin, Seems a bit self-centered to wonder about the length of my hair with so much more important going on in the world. Yet, sometimes these things warrant contemplation. I'm keeping it long since I like it, but did dig out a box of hair dye. All this gray is making me look my age!

@jan geronimo, It’s like so many things in life, when we don’t get around to them in our younger years we try to accomplish them when we get older. I now have the patience that I did not have in my youth. My girls tell me to keep it long. Maybe I should listen to them.

Short hair looks great on women who are in transition. Or when they reach that stage when people start complimenting them for for looking "elegant." But what do I know, right?
