We think she is part dog, part cat, and part people. She was napping [and snoring] when I looked over to find her. She woke up at my movement, but as you can see, she didn’t seem too phased by it.
Last night she was being cradled like a baby by Dwayne. You would think she thinks herself a person. And she does this a lot! She jumps into our chairs at the dinner table [when we get up for a moment] as if to say she’s ready to join us.
She is also a bed hog in a major way! She will fight me for my pillow. Oh, and she rests her head on it just like a person would.
My parents didn’t allow us to have a dog growing up so I don’t know if this is normal behavior.Not that I would want her any other way, I just think she’s a bit odd. Maybe that’s why she chose us! 
What do you think? Does your dog act this way, too? Have you seen others who have?

She also makes you pet her when she feels you haven’t given her enough attention. We tell her she has such a tough life.

Your dog looks very loved and happy. I grew up with a dog who was my kindred spirit.
I haven’t had the guts to get one for my three boys and they so need one. I’m just afraid it will push me over the edge…perhaps I’m already there. It doesn’t help that my husband says NO.
Anyway, I have a puppy lined up for the Spring. I already have 3 boys in my bed I do not need a dog there as well to push me even further away from the person who I really want to sleep with.

We waited quite a while. We needed to make sure we could afford her [she almost died twice] and give her the attention she deserves. When the time is right the right puppy will be there waiting for you.

Nope, while my dog is allowed in, he has his own kennel and so sleeps outside. When inside, once he’s finished running around like a lunatic, he’ll curl up on his mat in front of the couch.
When he was younger he would try to get up on the couch but we soon put a stop to that.

She was supposed to be an outside dog, but after she was hit by a car a few years back & had to stay inside for a few months, we didn’t have the heart to put her back outside. She still has her kennel for nice days and sometimes we let her run free on our 5 1/2 acres.
I would love to get new furniture, but am afraid she will ruin it. And I was not the one who let her have free reign over the furniture.

@Anne, 5i/2 acres sounds really nice. As to the dog, she seems like an integral part of the family now I’m not surprised in her behavior.
Have you tried to ween her back to being an outside dog with inside privileges?

When I was working she stayed in her kennel outside during the day. Since I’ve been home she’s been inside with me most days. We can put her outside during the day, but I think it would be hard to leave her out there at night. We definitely need to train her to stay off the furniture when we do get something else, though.

Hii Anne.. my dog does behave the same way as yours. He sleeps like we sleep, barks on us when we are eating as if he also wants to eat with us and bunch other. My mom always believes he is something special and very intelligent.
btw, for a coincidence my dog looks similar to yours. If you can contact me I will send you his photo.

That’s too funny, my dog is a choc lab and he too thinks he’s human. He was a rescue dog and got real sick right after I got him and I didnt have the heart to kick him off the bed or the couch, now I am paying for it. But I really dont mind. Anne have you seen the video God And Dog yet, it’s really good.

I have two English Bulldogs, they do some crazy stuff but they don’t sleep on the top of the couch. Thats classic.
