I was flipping through Woman's Day and found sites to save you money, time, and where to recycle your sneakers! Really! Those nasty sneakers you just LOVE, it is time to say bye-bye. For so many reasons… ewww. What did you step in? Ugh!

Don’t you just love it when something is free and useful? Me too! I do not even remember how I managed to get this free, but I am sure it was through something like Start Sampling or Heather over at Freebies4Mom (this is where I started finding great freebies and other fantastic frugal sites as well). Enough of the shameless plugs…

21 Websites That Save You Time & Money

Yeah, it got my attention, too. I did check out the Woman’s Day website and did not find this listed. So, in the interest of not swiping someone’s hard work [that is just wrong], I will list a few of those great sites and direct you to purchase the magazine (or find how to get it for free like I did) to read the rest.

  1. ShopLocal.com This is a great site. Just put in your city and it brings up local store sale ads. You can scroll through the ads and then click on the store circular that interests you.
  2. Ziloc.com Rent anything. That’s right, anything. Need a garage for a day? What about a bush hog? (hey, I live in the boonies!) This is a peer-to-peer rental site, so all you have to do is ask. The worse that will happen is they will say no, and you will no worse for wear!
  3. Starfall.com This is for all the moms out there! Put your hands in the air and, sorry I got a little carried away. This is a FREE program that helps teach your children literacy through games. Go on, check it out. I know the kids are taking a nap. I won’t tell. Promise.
  4. BigHugeLabs.com I know there are about a bazillion free photo thingies available right now. But what about later? You know, when you really need your kid’s picture in the form of a jigsaw puzzle? Yeah, I’m feeling ya! Then this is the site for you. Yes, it is free.
  5. Dinkytown.net I just HAD to include this one. I am a number cruncher, after all! Besides, who does not need a specific financial calculator at one point or another? Did you know there are more than 350 FREE financial calculators available on this site? Who would have thought? 350 +? We need accountants why? Oh, crap! Now I will never find work!
  6. DiscoverAmerica.com Go forth and find what great things there are to do in the city of your choice. Museums? Check. Parks? Check. Attractions? Check! Over 4000 activities and information for all 50 states. I am curious of what they list for my area. Mill Mountain Zoo with their 5 animals and the Zoo Choo! Exciting! What is there to do in your neighborhood? I know you are curious.

What is that smell?

Seriously, it is time to buy a new pair of sneakers. Go on, check out ShopLocal.com and find a sale, then come back here and I will tell you how to recycle those old, nasty shoes that have surely seen better days. It is okay; I will wait.

la di da di da…  Ready?

Head on over to your nearest Nike store and after they have stopped gagging, really, get some spray in here, they will turn those old kicks of yours into material for athletic areas like tracks and playgrounds.

If you have shoes that are gently worn – meaning you bought them, meant to use them, but could not find the time to actually get around to it – yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, me too! – then you can bind them together with rubber bands and ship them to Soles4Souls. How amazing is that? Want to know more? Check out soles4souls.org.

Still here?

There are some cool coupons in this month’s issue of Woman’s Day. And an article on saving $100′s on groceries (not like we don’t already know how to do that, right?). How about 5 Clutter Busters? It is in there, too. Oh, and Woman’s Day has this cool sweepstakes where you snap a picture of certain pages with your cell phone and you can win cool stuff! There are 52 prizes this month. Oh, and I saw Oprah on one of those pages. Go check it out!
