This weekend we traveled to Louisville, KY to spend some time at Six Flags. I was one of the many who won four tickets to any Six Flags in the mycokerewards/Papa John’s instant win game. Not that this was a free vacation, but a nice discount just the same. Besides, we never would have gone if I did not win the tickets. We chose Kentucky since we had family close by and DH has a friend in the area. Of course, no one showed and we were on our own. No biggie, it was a beautiful and *hot* day. We spent 95% of our time there in the water park.
We arrived Friday evening and DH, Stephen, and I drove through Louisville trying to decide where to eat. We ended up in Indiana and ate at Kobe’s Japanese Steakhouse. Great staff, good food. Amanda was not feeling too hot and Megan stayed at the hotel with her.
Saturday was a full day at Six Flags. The park opens at 11 am and closes at 8 pm. We were there from 11 to 6. That is a long day. I will scan our one lonely photo from when we arrived and post it tomorrow. I forgot my camera at home, but do not regret it. Instead of being a pack mule carrying everything and then some around all day, I decided to go to the park with just what would fit in my little waterproof carrier. This included my license, credit card, hotel key, some cash, and a lip gloss. This reminded me and Amanda of the George Carlin skit where he talks about “stuff” and versions of our house. We decided this was the fourth version of my house, just the essentials.
We arrived home today around 6pm. I checked on my chickens and they gave me nine eggs! I also received some free Kraft Easy Mac to review for the MomKnows panel over at SheKnows.com, a coupon for free Digorno flatbread melts (it expired 7/15/09, though ??), and a free Reynolds Wrap cookbook courtesy of Kroger’s Daytona 500 game (this is my second win).
It was nice to get away for a few computer/technology free days with the family and just have fun. Tomorrow I pick up Ivy from the kennel and take Stephen to his final Business Day. School starts for Amanda and Stephen Wednesday; Megan has another week before she moves in to Radford. Summer is definitely coming to a close.

Sounds like you had a good time! I also won Six Flag tickets from Coke, and we are going to Georgia at the end of September. (hopefully cooler!) I think I will do like you and forget the bags and camera…it’s just not worth it!

Hi Laura,
We considered Georgia, but we wanted a park with both the regular park and water park combined. Maryland is closer, but we figured Kentucky to be less crowded. You should not only have great weather, but less people. Have fun!
