Amanda has a must-see show to watch every day, Style by Jury. People come in looking frumpy, outrageous, unbelievable, you name it. They leave looking stylish and feeling self-confidence as opposed to self-conscious.
Every day we tune in to see the newest makeover extraordinaire. We laugh and some times we look away. Amanda tells me I should go. I do not think I want to know what people’s first impression is of me.
Why do I share this? Because I enjoy spending time with Amanda. We always laugh. And today’s TV time was no exception. Kids grow up so fast. Megan will be 18 in a few weeks and then off to college. Amanda has two more years, although she plans to live at home and attend community college her first two years. It is hard to believe we moved to Virginia and my children, my babies, were 11, 9, & 6 and now they are almost 18, 16, & 13! So, I try to spend as much time with them as I can and as they will allow.
When I was 15 I spent the summer in New Jersey (as I did many summers before). This particular year we attended the July 4th festivities near the Statue of Liberty, in honor of its centennial. My Aunt Ellen and her boys were there as well. My cousin Brett must have been only 3 or 4, maybe younger, I do not really remember. What I do remember is carrying him, a lot. I was told I would spoil him by constantly carrying him, but I did not spend that much time with my cousins since I lived in Florida. Sadly, my cousin only lived to be 18. I keep those memories with me as I did not see him much after that year. I share this because it was my cousin, Brett, who taught me you can never spoil a child by loving them. I carried my kids as often as I could knowing one day they would be too big to carry. Knowing that one day they may not be here to show them how much I love them. I want my kids to move on and live their lives, but I want to enjoy [as much as I can] the time I have with them while they are still kids. I really should visit my parents more often!
