Day 5 at the Hospital

Today I am writing from the hospital lobby.  Mom was sleeping so I left a note and snuck downstairs to work on some homework and check email.  Charlie is with her (sleeping as well).  I am glad she is getting some rest.  She was up a good part of the night nauseated and vomiting.  I know, yuck!  I felt so bad.  This really hurt her tummy (where her stitches are).  So, I am really glad she is getting some much needed rest now.  It seems the pain medication is not agreeing with her stomach.  She is back on an IV and an all liquid diet.  Not like the semi-solids was a great feast.  I took pictures; worse than the vomit.  Seriously.  The cream of chicken soup looked like the fat you scrape out of the gravy after it has cooled and congealed.  She is sipping ginger ale.  Maybe tomorrow.  No sense rushing things.  I am here until she is home and settled in.  This may be another week.  I am just playing it by ear for now.

Now for some good news.  I won $25 this week.  I was checking my massive amount of unread emails Wednesday night and was disappointed at missing all the Earth Day goodies – oh, well.  Every day is Earth Day and I was spending it with my mom; better than a free bag and discounts.  So, I was deleting most of these emails as they are junk or outdated blog updates (I only keep the most current to visit) and read one subject indicating I had won something.  And it was my choice of $25 cash (check), $25 gift card, or 19,000 points on this particular site.  Well, being it was late and the email was two days old I decided on the $25 check.  Who couldn’t use a little extra cash, right?  Especially when you are unemployed like me.  So, that was a good thing.

And the kids and DH have not killed each other, yet.  They are having their hiccups, but I think they will manage. Megan and Amanda are participating in a Walk today and tomorrow for Child Abuse Prevention.  I was going to walk as well, but I am not there.  And of course, I get an email today from Amanda’s history teacher letting me know Amanda is failing the class.  That is always fun.  So I forwarded this to Amanda with copies to DH and Megan.  DH will need to handle right now and Megan will have to assist in getting Amanda to these tutoring sessions that are being recommended.  There is no excuse for failing a class, even history.  So, that was fun.

Being a mom does not end, even when you are many, many miles away from home tending to your own mom.  Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend.
