CVS & Kroger and a Vehicle Inspection

I had to take my Jeep for inspection yesterday.  Let us start at the beginning.  In October while driving to work a rock was kicked up and hit my windshield.  Needless to say, I needed to replace the windshield.  $200 later, new windshield, everything is find.  Fast forward to December.  I no longer drive to work (not that I am complaining) and DH changes a few spark plugs for me.  As he is test driving a rock is kicked up and hits the windshield.  In my 20+ years of driving this has never happened.  What are the odds it would happen twice in two months time?  This one is closer to the driver’s line of sight, but we decided to hold off on the repair until we had to part with the money, or it started to spread.  In Virginia we have to have our vehicles inspected yearly and mine is in March.  I reminded DH about the need to get the inspection and my concern of needing to fix the windshield for my vehicle to pass.  Getting pulled over by a sheriff’s officer the other day only increased my desire to get this done.  No ticket for me, I was not in violation.

Okay, so here I am worried about this flaw in my windshield and it never comes up during the inspection.  Not once.  Oh, I had to remove the rock guards from the headlights and the contacts had to be cleaned for the middle break light, but not a word about the windshield.  All that worrying over nothing.  But, it is done and that is that.  So, I headed over to Kroger for gas.  My light had come on and I wanted to fill ‘er up right away.  40¢ a gallon savings with all of those great Kroger fuel saver points.  And mind you, I did not spend $400 to get that, but it is applied prior to coupons.  Cha-ching!  Maximum savings.   Now on to the Kroger portion of this blog post.

Here is what I did purchase at Kroger yesterday:

4 Del Monte Fruit Naturals $1.00 each 000_0036

Final cost- $2.00 for four

Final cost- $4.00 for two

$11.00 before coupons
$3.00 in coupons
$8.00 OOP (w/ tax $8.28)

There was not too much at CVS this week. I do have a $5 off $15 Easter candy CRT, but do not need any more candy. There are a few items at Target that have caught my eye. And I will need to pick up a few odds and ends at Kroger (pasta, drinks for school lunches, etc.). One thing is for sure, no one is going hungry in our house.

That stinks about your windshield! Isn’t life like that though? go figure! I’m glad you had no problems passing your vehicle inspection. Your tomatoes look yummy! I think I read a comment on your post from last week about how this person was glad to see someone posting grocery trips of real food for real families (which kinda made me giggle b/c your picture was of combos, warm delights, and Doritos.. but I understand what she was getting at). I do have to agree with the spirit of her comment that it is nice to see a mixture of your wow/money savings trips as well as the normal day-to-day purchases that don’t yield 50% + savings! I tend to only post the deals where I have a larger amount of savings (probably leaving people to think that I’m living on cereal, soda, and chips! (We aren’t) Lol). Maybe I should post my Kroger trip tonight where I only saved 13% and used one measly coupon! :) Anyway, that’s probably more than you wanted to hear… but I said all that to say- I love reading your blog!

Anne, thanks for linking and for letting me know you received the gift card safely. ;-)

We lived in Norfolk for a year and I remember those vehicle inspections…such a pain.

Take care and share your finds this week!

I am with you on the picture. It was pretty much junk foods. DH has to hide the Doritos or I will eat them – all of them, but those were actually part of his birthday present. Cookies and chocolates are safe since I am more into the salty snacks. I must admit, I have eaten way too many bags of Combos, but they are just so good! =) And I have gone through about 50 oranges this past month, again they are just so good. Thank you for reading and use as many words as you like to tell me how much you love my blog! =) You will hear no complaints from me.
