The Dreaded Job Interview

It has been more than five years since I have had to interview for a job. I had a few phone interviews in recent months and one seemed to go well and one I never heard from again. Not sure if those are good odds or just about the norm.

I have received a few calls to set up an interview with the Clerk of the Courts. I returned the call, but have yet to hear from to confirm the interview. Then another call came in. I could not remember the ad I applied so I very politely apologized for my ignorance and inquired of the position. Very nice lady. Part time AP work, two days a week, 16 hours total. The position will be a 45 minute drive one way. I want to find out more as it is only two days a week and AP is simple work. The commute may be too much depending on the pay. But I am looking forward to this. I am ready for something less stressful yet paying.

On to the interview. I plan to take this calmly. No sudden movements. I am confident in my abilities. I have several nice interview outfits. I did find this amazing skirt suit at JCPenney’s the other day. I just could not justify the $30 price tag. No, I do not plan to buy it. Just reminiscing.

Off to polish off the old resume and make sure I have all my contacts in line. Sigh. I think the references is the hardest part for me. I can do this, I can do this. Calm, serene, confident.

Update – Interview with the Clerk of the Courts is set for Monday afternoon.  At least the government is still standing.  AND with all the financial mess going on lawyers and the court system should be in high demand.  I will keep you posted!
