I heard from the amazing bookkeeping from home company. And got a phone interview. I must have made an impression as he sent me for testing. Ah, testing. It doe not matter how much we think we know because the test never lies. I do not like tests. The first was an attention to detail test. Not too bad. I think I did okay although some of it was a bit difficult. Next was the Quickbooks Pro test. Now, I can work my way around Quickbooks but it is not what I am used to using. I do not think I did all that well. Yes, I should have studied. In my defense, I thought this would be an interactive test or an accounting knowledge-type test. It was a bit of the latter, but the former was just a screen shot and a how-to question on getting to that same place. No, I do not think I did all that well. Then came the Excel test. This was interactive. I did not score 100% but I did hold my own. The only real problem was the time it took to load the screen. Also, it indicated there would be 30 questions and I only had to answer 20. Not much I can do about that. However, there is something I can do about future tests. It is time to polish my skills and take some free online tests to better prepare myself.
I have not heard back from this employer, yet. I will remain optimistic while being realistic and keeping my fingers crossed. For now, I am off to study.
